Central Jersey election results: Everything you need to know

Election Day is upon us. On the ballot are myriad referendum questions, municipal and school board offices, as well as each of New Jersey's 12 district seats for the House of Representatives. Voters in some cases may see unfamiliar names on their ballots, due to redistricting which took place this year and relocated many towns to other districts.

Read further for results, see who is running for seats in New Jersey's congressional districts and where they stand on the issues, as well as how to cast your ballot.

Polls open on Nov. 8 at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Check back after polls close to see election results for your town and district.

Here's what to know about the races in your district.

NJ Congressional District 6: Frank Pallone Jr. v. Susan Kiley

Incumbent Frank Pallone Jr. is going toe-to-toe with challenger Susan Kiley for control of the 6th District. Pallone is a Democrat; Kiley is a Republican. Read about where Pallone and Kiley stand on the issues here.

The District 7 congressional race pits incumbent Tom Malinowski against Thomas Kean Jr. Malinowski is a Democrat, while Kean is a Republican. NJ Congressional District 12: Bonnie Watson Coleman v. Darius Mayfield

Incumbent Bonnie Watson Coleman and challenger Darius Mayfield are seeking election to represent NJ’s 12th District. Watson Coleman is a Democrat; Mayfield is a Republican.

How do I vote in New Jersey?

In New Jersey, the polls are open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Election Day. Voters can find their polling place and answers to other questions about voting at VOTE.NJ.GOV. NJ residents can also call 1-877-NJ-VOTER with questions.

If you requested a vote-by-mail ballot, it must be either postmarked by 8 p.m. on Election Day or delivered in person to your county's Board of Elections office by the time the polls close.

Can independents vote in midterms?

Yes. Unaffiliated voters may vote for any candidate in the midterm general election.
