Updated: Central Kentucky police look for suspect in a homicide after finding body

The Richmond Police Department on Wednesday identified an “armed and dangerous” suspect who is wanted in connection to a homicide investigation.

Hector Hernandez-Diaz, who may also go by Hector Diaz-Hernandez, is wanted in connection to a killing that Richmond police began investigating Wednesday morning. The 40-year-old man was believed to be driving a gray 2003 four-door Volkswagen Passat, police said. The vehicle had the Kentucky license plate: BFD078, according to police.

Richmond officers found 34-year-old Andrea Hernandez, a Richmond resident, shot dead at a home on Earlene Court, police said. The department had been tipped off by the Lexington Police Department regarding a possible homicide.

Investigators obtained a search warrant to execute Wednesday morning, Richardson said, and Lexington police had been helping Richmond police during the investigation.

Police on Wednesday shut down Four Mile Avenue at Danielle Court and Estill Avenue in order to carry out the homicide investigation. The road reopened around 11 a.m., police said.
