Central Louisiana closings announced as strong storms head our way

The National Weather Service is predicting storms that could produce heavy rain and wind gusts that could be as high as 45 mph throughout the day and into the night.

Here are some closings that have been announced because of today's severe weather threat. The list will be updated throughout the day:

  • The Alexandria Farmers Market is canceled.

  • Rapides Parish Schools will dismiss students at 1 p.m.

  • Avoyelles Parish Schools are dismissing students early.

  • Central Louisiana Technical Community College will close their Alexandria campus and Ward H. Nash Campus at 1 p.m. They will continue to monitor the weather throughout the day.

  • Louisiana State University of Alexandria will close at 1 p.m. All offices will be closed and on campus events and classes are cancelled. Online classes will continue as scheduled unless otherwise noted by the instructor.

  • All Rapides Parish Library locations will close at 1 p.m.
