A local developer appeared in front of the Planning Board with a blueprint for a five-floor apartment building on Shrewsbury Street. Wei Dong Wang, the owner of Baba Sushi on Park Avenue, plans to redevelop a property at 393-397 Shrewsbury St. with a 24-unit apartment building, according to plans. Wang’s holding company, 318 Park LLC, has a plan for 16 one-bedroom apartments and eight two-bedroom units. Two units would be handicapped accessible. Plans show that Wang is looking to also build 25 existing parking spaces for tenant use.

Grafton Street landmark A.P. Fish Market will soon share pavement with a squeaky-new neighbor, as a new owner is looking to build a car wash with a 120-foot tunnel. Slated to be around 4,000 square feet, the car wash will be part of redevelopment plans by the land's new owners who took over the 4.5-acre property Friday from the multidecade owners of 1059 Grafton St. Pizzarella family, according to brokers NAI Glickman Kovago & Jacobs. Records show that the new owners, guised as 1059 Grafton Street LLC on the Worcester Registry of Deeds, closed on the land for $775,000.

Napoli Deli & Catering of Shrewsbury is looking to expand into a second location, on Plantation Street in Worcester. Rodney Haddad, the longtime owner of Napoli at 79 South Quinsigamond Ave in Shrewsbury, said he is looking to open the second location at 298 Plantation St. Haddad said he is looking to add a second floor to the Plantation Street building, where he would move Napoli's catering service. He is due to appear in front of the Zoning Board of Appeals on June 26 to get height clearance. The Plantation Street building was once home to a tailoring shop owned by the Haddads.

The state Department of Environmental Protection has hit a New York-based freight company with $34,000 in fines for failure to clean up an oil spill at the Charlton service area on the Massachusetts Turnpike. JNR Freight Solutions Corp. of New York was fined for failure to address a 100-gallon diesel fuel release from one of its vehicles at the service area. On May 1, 2019, a truck owned and operated by JNR Freight Solutions Corp. struck a light pole at the service area. The accident damaged the truck’s diesel fuel tank, causing 100 gallons of diesel fuel to spill onto the pavement and soil.

Marlborough is being sued by the developer of the Rowe Funeral Home site following a City Council decision to increase the project's parking requirement. The lawsuit is over proposed development at the former Rowe Funeral Home site at 57 Main St. On April 10, the Marlborough City Council approved a proposal from JW Capital Partners, LLC, to construct a 99-unit mixed-used building on the property. However, concerns about limited parking at the site led to the council adding a condition that called for the required number of parking spaces to go from 30 to 60.
