Central Ohio chef takes victory in Food Network’s Chopped

UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio (WCMH) – From a kitchen at a market in Upper Arlington to the national stage, Chef Alexia Orsburn or Littleton’s Market, is a Chopped champion.

Orsburn is the Executive Chef and Culinary Director at Littleton’s. She recently appeared in an episode of Food Network’s Chopped. She said she can cook with anything and she proved that to be true.

“Competing in Chopped against so many amazing other chefs, it was definitely exciting, challenging, but also lots and lots of fun,” she said.

She’s been in the culinary field for more than 20 years. She spent much of her time in New York and has worked alongside world class chefs. Still she said when she stepped in the Chopped kitchen, she was a bit nervous.

“The first round when I started it was definitely very anxious, very scary, then as soon as I opened the first basket and I saw the ingredients I was thrilled,” she said.

In the first round she made what she described as an Asian-style stone crab salad. In the second round she made a stir fry with bison and what she described as a “strange mint dip” which she was required to use. In the third round she made a French toast.

“If you set your goal and if you want to get something achieved and you’re the first person to show up and last person to leave, learn and ask as many questions as possible, you will achieve the goal of cooking,” she said.

On the show and in an interview with NBC4, she said that now that she’s a Chopped champion, she already has her eyes on even bigger goals.

“Being on Chopped was definitely one of the fun projects I have done and being recognized just coming back to Ohio, everybody’s congratulating me and how proud they are and right there alone is an amazing moment for me,” she said.
