Central Ohio High School Sports Awards: ThisWeek announces finalists for spring sports
To give spring athletes time to register for the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards on June 15 at the Ohio Theatre, we’re announcing all finalists from those sports in one story.
They will be among the athletes in 30 sports who will be honored during the awards show, presented by Encova Insurance and in partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine and Raising Cane’s. Athletes of the Year in every sport will be announced.
This year’s show combines the sports awards and scholarship programs for the first time. Former Ohio State and NFL standout Malcolm Jenkins, a two-time Super Bowl champion, will be the guest speaker.
“Encova Insurance is proud to support the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards,” said John Kessler, executive vice president and chief strategy officer. “We believe that leadership is more than a position – it’s a behavior, focused less on what you do and more on how you do it. We are proud to support our young community members, particularly the student-athletes, who work hard to make a difference in their respective sports, classroom and communities.
“The talent and leadership displayed by the finalists makes our team at Encova excited for the future. We participate in the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards to recognize and support these student-athletes in the next steps of their journey because they are our future.”
Athletes need to register at tinyurl.com/2zfmn58e. Each athlete and scholarship winner will receive one free ticket to the show. Additional tickets can be purchased at tinyurl.com/mrxcsmen.
Awards also will be given to the overall Girls Athlete of the Year, Boys Athlete of the Year, Coach of the Year and Team of the Year.
“We work with student-athletes every day – helping them recover from an injury, prevent an injury and improve their performance on the field or court,” said Lisa Kluchurosky, service line administrator for Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine. “This event is a great way to showcase the hard work these athletes put in – as well as the amazing results they achieve.”
Our traditional Super team stories highlighting athletes from all spring sports will run in the coming weeks.
“Raising Cane’s loves to participate in the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards because it is an opportunity to show our appreciation for our local communities and our surrounding high school student-athletes,” said Sophie Brightman, area leader of marketing for Raising Cane’s.
