Central Ohio’s most romantic getaways

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH)– While it might be a little too late to plan a Valentine’s Day getaway with your sweetie this year, you don’t have to look far for a romantic weekend trip in central Ohio.

According to the travel experts at U.S. News and World Report, you can check out some of the most romantic getaways in the Buckeye State any time of year.

From glamping and hiking to big cities to a stay in a castle– U.S. News and World Report Travel Managing Editor Erin Evans says their list of top romantic getaways in Ohio has something for everyone, but they all have a few key similarities.

“When looking for a romantic getaway, we’re looking at what options travelers love: which places have deluxe amenities or romantic amenities. Things like a great restaurant or spa, really cozy rooms, things like fireplaces or hot tubs,” Evans said.

On the list of 22, some places in and near central Ohio include Hocking Hills State Park, Timbrook Guesthouse, Glenlaurel, and Landoll’s Mohican Castle.

Evans says staycations or mini trips gained popularity during the pandemic– but demand is still strong years later.

“Coming out of COVID, we realized travelers were not ready to go international or travel as far, so we put together a list of a lot of different romantic getaways in states and Ohio was one of those,” she explained. “We’ve continued to update those pieces regularly because they’ve been so popular.”
