‘Central Park’: Apple TV+ Comedy Canceled After Three Seasons, According To Josh Gad

It appears that Apple TV+ has bid farewell to another series following the end of the writers’ strike.

Josh Gad, who co-created and stars on the animated comedy-musical series Central Park revealed that Apple TV+ has cancelled the show after three seasons.

“Sadly, it’s done,” Gad revealed the news in response to a fan’s post on Threads Sunday, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The news of Central Park’s reported cancellation arrives in the wake of Apple TV+’s decision to cancel their acclaimed sports drama Swagger after two seasons.

Created by Gad, Loren Bouchard and Nora Smith, Central Park chronicles the lives of the Tillermans, a family who resides in Central Park’s notorious Edendale Castle. The Tillermans – consisting of patriarch Owen (Leslie Odom Jr.), his wife Paige (Kathryn Hahn), their daughter Molly (Emmy Raver-Lampman) and son Cole (Titus Burgess) – must put their family differences aside to save the park when a Bitsy Brandenh, a wealthy heiress plots to buy up all the land in the New York City locale and turn it into more condominiums, shopping stores and restaurant.

Aside from Gad, Central Park also featured voiceover work from Daveed Diggs, Nora Smith, Keala Settle and Stanley Tucci. Other prominent Black stars also lent their voices to the series, including Janelle James, Phil LaMarr and Amber Ruffin.

Central Park premiered on Apple TV+ in May 2020. Lampman replaced Kristen Bell in July 2020 after the unrest due to George Floyd’s death led to Hollywood re-examining their racial bias in many areas, including the issue of white actors voicing Black or biracial Black characters. The character Bell was initially voiced, Molly Tillerman, is biracial.
