Central Sales Inc. has started the design work for a commercial implement dealership that will be located on 10 acres of land along 20th Street Southwest, according to Jeff Romsdal, owner of the business. The location is east of the site for the new Anne Carlsen Center.

"We are hoping to start moving dirt this spring out there," he said. " ... We hope to by next spring or before to be moving into a new building there."

Romsdal said Central Sales will also have the property about 2 miles south of Jamestown.

He said having a new commercial implement dealership east of the new Anne Carlsen Center campus will give Central Sales a more centralized location in Jamestown. He said his competitors are all along Interstate 94 and his business will be in a prime location.

"I feel that particular spot will give us high visibility," he said.

Central Sales, which has a location in Casselton, North Dakota, needed to expand in Jamestown, Romsdal said.

"We are out of room at our current shop," he said. "I decided we needed to put some money in our current location. As I put the pencil to it, I thought let's pursue maybe building a nice new, bright, shiny building up by the interstate."

He said Central Sales is a versatile implement dealer. Central Sales sells Massey Ferguson tractors, Gleaner combines, White Planters, Sunflower tillage and GPS and precision products under AGCO Corp., skidsteers, telehandlers, compact tractors and track loaders under Bobcat, and also a variety of short lines such as Grasshopper and Woods lawnmowers.

He said his staff and business have been growing. Five "good" people have joined Central Sales in the last year.

"We plan to keep hiring and keep growing," he said.

Central Sales is locally owned and not a corporation.

"Central Sales is run by me and my team," Romsdal said.

The leadership team consists of Shane Roemmich, general manager and sales manager; Sarah Huebner, accounting manager; Corey Hofmann, who has been with Central Sales for 30 years and is a service technician; Jerry Krauth, Casselton branch manager; and Romsdal.

Romsdal said the leadership team achieved a five-star rating in AGCO's Dealer Excellence Program three of the last five years.
