When do Modesto-area Halloween events begin? Here are corn mazes, pumpkin patches and more

Retail stores are filling their shelves with Halloween goodies, and Central Valley residents are surrounded by ghouls, ghosts and goblins galore.

Spooky season is upon us, and pumpkin patches, corn mazes and other fall-themed events are starting to pop up in the region.

Here are six events coming to Modesto and surrounding areas where you can get your fill of pumpkin picking, hayriding and getting lost in corn:

Dell’Osso Family Farm

  • Opening day: Saturday, Sept. 30; 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.

  • Location: 501 S Manthey Road, Lathrop

  • Entry fee: Monday-Thursday $19.95; Friday $24.95; Saturday and Sunday $28.95; Children 2 and under free; Season pass $75

The general admission wristband includes over 20 attractions and other entertainment including the corn maze, haunted castle and hayride. Attractions not included with general admission: gem mining $10, pumpkin blasters $8, carousel $4, pony rides $10 and pumpkin painting $5. Parking is free.

Dutch Hollow Farms

  • Opening day: Saturday, Sept. 30; 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.

  • Location: 2500 Santa Fe Ave., Modesto

  • Entry fee: Monday-Thursday and Friday before 4 p.m. $13; Friday after 4 p.m. through Sunday $15

Admission includes the corn maze, pumpkin patch, zip lines and more. There is an additional charge for gem mining and pony rides. Parking is free.

Fantozzi Farms

  • Opening day: Saturday, Sept. 30; 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.

  • Location: 2665 Sperry Ave., Patterson

  • Entry fee: General admission $15; Season pass $40

Admission includes the corn mazes, pumpkin patch and more than 15 courtyard attractions, such as the hayride, petting zoo and obstacle courses. Corn cannons, the zombie paintball shooting range and cow train rides are available for an additional fee.

Galaxy Theatres spooky series

  • Opening day: Friday, Oct. 6; 10:30 a.m.

  • Location: Galaxy Theatres Riverbank IMAX

  • Entry fee: $2

Galaxy Theatres in Riverbank will be playing $2 family-friendly spooky movies throughout October. “Coraline” will play Oct. 6-12, “ParaNorman” will play Oct. 13-19, “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween” will play Oct. 20-26 and “Casper” (1995) will play Oct. 27 - Nov. 2. Tickets can be purchased on the theater’s website.

R.A.M. Farms

  • Opening day: Friday, Sept. 22; 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.

  • Location: 716 N Daubenberger Rd., Turlock

  • Entry fee: Corn maze- children 5-11 $10, ages 12 and over $12; Freaky Flashlight Nites- ages 12 and over $14

R.A.M. Farms’ pumpkin patch opens Friday, Sept. 22. The corn maze opens Friday, Sept. 29 with daytime hours between noon and 6 p.m. and flashlight hours between 6 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. (bring your own flashlight).

The Brady House Presents: The Tunnel of Horrors

  • Opening day: Friday, Oct. 27; 6 - 11 p.m.

  • Location: 931 10th St., Modesto

  • Entry fee: Starts at $10

The Tunnel of Horrors haunted house will have drinks, snacks and “scary fun.” Tickets go on sale Sunday, Oct. 1.
