Centralia High School students celebrate step toward dual language proficiency

Dec. 17—Over 35 Centralia High School students have earned a passing score on the Avant Stamp assessment of language proficiency in a language other than English — a significant step toward earning an official seal of biliteracy on their diplomas.

"These students not only are working toward the Seal of Biliteracy on their diplomas but also will receive credit for the additional language that they speak," Centralia High School stated in a Facebook post on the students' achievement.

Students in these testing sessions earned credits in Spanish, Turkish, Russian and Swahili, according to the high school.

"We look forward to celebrating more Tigers after the next round of testing!" Centralia High School stated.
