Centralia volunteer award nomination deadline approaching next month

Sep. 29—Know a person or organization that volunteers around Centralia? The deadline to nominate them for a Centralia Volunteer Special Recognition Award is Oct. 31, according to an email from Centralia City Councilor Elizabeth Cameron.

Cameron created the award last year to honor the many volunteers who share their time, equipment and labor supporting the city through various programs and events.

"Volunteer contributions, throughout the City of Centralia, add value to the quality of life in the community," Cameron said in the email.

To nominate a volunteer, download and fill out the form available at https://www.cityofcentralia.com/civicalerts.aspx?aid=62 and email it to Centralia City Clerk Kristan McConnell at KMcConnell@cityofcentralia.com.

It can also be printed out and dropped off in person at the city clerk's office at Centralia City Hall, located at 118 W. Maple St. in downtown Centralia.

Additionally, the nomination form can be found online at the City of Centralia's Facebook page, and hard copies can also be picked up in-person on the podium at Centralia City Council meetings. which are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at Centralia City Hall.

Councilor Max Vogt will oversee the Volunteer Special Recognition Award committee this year as Cameron will have completed her four-year term in December and is not running for re-election.

Award recipients will be announced during the last city council meeting in December and honorees will receive their awards during the second city council meeting in January next year.
