Will Centre County liquor stores, Giant, Walmart be open for New Year’s? See holiday hours
Christmas has come and gone, and 2024 will be here before you know it. Whether you’re stocking up on party supplies or Champagne to pop at midnight, we’ve got your last-minute shopping covered.
Most stores in the State College area will operate under reduced hours on New Year’s Eve this Sunday, while a few will even close for New Year’s Day this Monday.
Here’s a brief overview of the holiday hours for grocery markets and liquor stores throughout parts of Centre County. Some of their schedules and services may vary by location, so be sure to check with your location.
Aldi
Aldi’s Centre County stores, located at 780 Benner Pike and 1798 N. Atherton St. in State College, will open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. New Year’s Eve before closing entirely New Year’s Day. Regular hours (9 a.m. to 8 p.m.) return starting Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Fine Wine & Good Spirits
All four Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores in the State College area — Southridge Plaza, Hamilton Square, North Atherton and Benner Pike — will operate from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. New Year’s Eve before closing all day for New Year’s Day. Regular operating hours return starting Jan. 2.
Giant
All Giant stores will open until 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve, the company says on its website. Pharmacies will operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Giant’s stores will reopen for normal hours for New Year’s Day, though pharmacies will operate from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Sam’s Club
This membership-only store, located at 381 Benner Pike in State College, will open from 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve before closing entirely New Year’s Day.
Target
The Target store at 315 Colonnade Blvd. in State College will close at 9 p.m. New Year’s Eve but operate with normal hours (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.) New Year’s Day.
The 201 W. Beaver Ave. location, meanwhile, is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday before expanding its hours to 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday.
Trader Joe’s
All Trader Joe’s stores, including the 243 Patriot Lane location in State College, will close at 5 p.m. New Year’s Eve. The company’s stores are shuttered entirely New Year’s Day.
Walmart
Walmart stores are open for regular hours New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Both the 1665 N. Atherton St. and 373 Benner Pike stores in State College are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. both days.
Wegmans
This grocery store, located at 345 Colonnade Blvd. in State College, closes at 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve. It opens for regular hours starting at 6 a.m. New Year’s Day.
Wegmans’ pharmacy will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. New Year’s Eve and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. New Year’s Day.
Weis (Bellefonte)
This Weis store, located at 170 Buckaroo Lane in Bellefonte, is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. New Year’s Day.
Weis (Philipsburg)
This Weis market, located at 501 N. Centre St. in Philipsburg, is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. New Year’s Day.
Weis (Martin Street)
This Weis store, located at 1471 Martin St. in State College, will operate from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. New Year’s Day.
Weis (Rolling Ridge Drive)
This Weis supermarket, located at 110 Rolling Ridge Drive in State College, is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. New Year’s Day.
Weis (Westerly Parkway)
This Weis store, located at 560 Westerly Parkway in State College, will operate from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. New Year’s Day.
