Centreville track and field teams race to wins

The Centreville track and field teams earned a pair of wins on Wednesday.

The Lady Bulldogs beat Cass 89-32 and Marcellus 84-53, the boys beat Cass 100-36 and Marcellus 104.5-32.5. The Marcellus girls logged a 94-43 win over Cass, the Marcellus boys lost to Cass 73-50.

The Centreville boys posted first place in 12 of the 17 events.

Dylan Coney won both sprint races, he posted times of 11.45 seconds in the 100 dash and 23.60 seconds in the 200. Tyler Swanwick ran to second place in the 200 at 23.66 seconds, Cody Marshall was third overall in both races with a time of 12.10 seconds in the 100 and 24.97 seconds in the 200.

Joshua Falkenstein won the 400 run at 55.50 seconds. Kamden Wells finished second at 57.97 seconds, Dominic Smith was third at 59.80 seconds.

Chaseton Wyckoff won the 800 at 2:10.33. Marcellus’ Quinton Tone came in second at 2:13.29 and Felix Suchert finished third with a time of 2:25.63.

Logan Weis won the sprint races. He posted a time of 5:03.13 in the mile and 11:56.13 in the two-mile. Tone was second in the mile at 5:10.72, Wyckoff finished third at 5:27.64. In the two-mile, Marcellus’ Tatum Alwine came in second at 12:35.92 and Joshua Jackson was third at 13:26.58.

Centreville won the 800 relay. Swanwick, Joshua Falkenstein, Jacob Falkenstein and Coney posted a time of 1:34.85 in that event.

The Bulldogs won the distance relays as well. The mile relay team of Joshua Falkenstein, Jacob Falkenstein, Smith and Swanwick raced a time of 3:40.88. The team of Suchert, Brandon Reed, Weis and Wyckoff came in first with a time of 9:53.23.

Marcellus’ Cordell Jones-McNally was second in the shot put at 37-11.

Dylan Palmer won the discus with a distance of 115-10.75 feet.

Swanwick finished first in the high jump at 5-10. Gavin Bunning won the pole vault at 9-0, Weis was second in that one at 8-6.

Bella Kessler won the sprint races for the Lady Bulldogs. She ran a time of 13.66 seconds in the 100 dash and 29.10 seconds in the 200. Ellie Miller finished second in the 200 at 30.14 and was third in the 100 at 14.22 seconds.

Autumn Major ran to first place in a pair of events for Centreville. Her times of 2:41.40 in the 800 and 6:03.87 in the mile were best in both races.

Jade Kuhbander ran a time of 1:07.63 to win the 400, Zoe Miller was second at 1:10.85.

Marcellus’ Addie Curtis finished second in the mile run at 6:06.51, she was third in the 800 at 2:56.03.

In the two-mile run, Major finished second at 14:16.28 and Curtis was third at 14:40.72.

Madi Simpson won the 100 hurdles for Marcellus at 18.10 seconds. Bella Kangas of Centreville finished third at 18.95 seconds.

Gabby Bowen won the 300 hurdles for Centreville with a time of 53.58 seconds. Simpson came in second place at 55.57 seconds.

Centreville took first place in the 400 relay. The team of Kangas, Bowen, Kessler and Kuhbander race a time of 54.70 seconds.

Centreville won the 800 relay as well. The team of Ellie Miller, Zoe Miller, Kessler and Kuhbander posted a time of 1:54.65 in that one. The mile relay saw Centreville place first as well. Zoe Miller, Kuhbander, Kangas and Frances Mildenberg raced a time of 5:01.54 in that event.

Marcellus’ Laerke Kronborg, Merle Muntefering, Lily Scoggin and Veronica Trunzer came in first place for the two-mile relay. They had a time of 13:13.16 in that one.

In the shot put, Adalae Hackett was second at 30-1, Marcellus’ Jenna Wells came in third position with a distance of 29-11.

Wells won the discus at 89-11. Olivia Thompson came in second at 83-4 and Hackett was third at 83-3.

Simpson won the high jump, clearing 5-0. Kangas came in second at 4-10.

Talan Hiemstra won the pole vault for Marcellus at 8-0. Ellie Pachay came in second at 6-9.

Zoe Miller won the long jump at 15-9. Ellie Miller was second at 14-3 and Simpson was third at 14-1.

Mendon hosts event

Mendon hosted three other schools for a track and field meet on Wednesday.

The Hornet boys beat Comstock 78-42 but dropped scores to White Pigeon 68-56 and Bangor 71-58. White Pigeon beat Comstock 71-47 and Bangor 71-52.

In girl’s action, White Pigeon beat Mendon 65-57 and Comstock 78-43 but fell to Bangor 62-61. Mendon beat Comstock 55-37 but fell to Bangor 63-50.

For the boys, Mendon’s Jack McCaw won both sprint races. He posted a time of 11.5 seconds in the 100 dash and 23.6 seconds in the 200. McCaw also won the long jump, leaping 18-8.5 feet.

White Pigeon finished with the top two spots in the 400. Josh Davidson won at 56.4 seconds, Mekhi Singleton was second at 56.5 seconds.

In the 400 relay, White Pigeon also took first. The team of Braxton Neeley, Dylan Carper, Todd Hollingsworth and Caleb Lane paced the field with a time of 46.5 seconds. The Mendon team of Dylan Cupp, Gabe Haigh, Isiah Ibison and McCaw was second at 47.4 seconds.

White Pigeon won the 800 and mile relays as well. The 800 team of Neeley, John Bontrager, Davidson and Singleton ran a time of 1:42.8 while Mendon’s team of Haigh, Cupp, Ibison and Alex Smith came in second at 1:45.0.

Trent Beeson, Bontrager, Lane and Elijah Qualls paced White Pigeon in the mile relay at 3:52.5.

Seth Miller took first place in the shot put at 43-1.5 feet. Khayvien Brown came in second at 40-1.5 feet. Chaz Underwood finished third in the discus event at 97-10.5 feet.

Smith set the mark in the pole vault at 8-6.

White Pigeon’s Rachel Schelstraete won the mile run with a time of 7:06.2. Kayde Bathgate finished third in that race at 8:04.0.

Alivia Stuart won the 100 hurdles for Mendon at 18.4 seconds. Sarah Burns was third for White Pigeon at 21.6 seconds. Burns was also second in the 300 hurdles, posting a time of 59.2 seconds. Mendon's Kayla Wenzel took third in that event at 1:00.9.

The Lady Chiefs won the two-mile relay. The team of Jamielynn Delarye, Shelby McDaniel, Schelstraete and Hayley Strawser ran a time of 12:28.2 in that event.

Keyara Szymanski of Mendon won the throwing events. She posted 32-9 feet in the shot put and 103-11 in the discus. White Pigeon’s Ellie McBride was third in the shot put at 29-8.5, Alexandra Hooker was third in the discus at 79-11.

Alicyn Arevalo came in second in the high jump at 5-2. Jasmine Stuller was third in that event at 4-3.

Kaitlynn Grostick of White Pigeon was first in the pole vault at 6-0.

Chloe Behrends finished second in the long jump at 13-0.5, White Pigeon’s McDaniel came in third place in that event at 12-10.25 feet.

Presley Allen ran to second place in the 400 at 1:06.4, Amber Hostetler came in third at 1:10.2.

In the 400 relay, Mendon’s team of Alexis Ames, Stuart, Naomi Slocum and Wenzel had a time of 58.3 seconds for second place. White Pigeon’s team of Caylie Stuck, Grostick, Stuller and Layla Goodwin was third at 1:00.1.

Ames, Allen, Hostetler and Behrends placed second in the mile relay at 4:40.1. White Pigeon’s team of Amyia Wright, Schelstraete, Sophia Hagen and Strawser was third at 4:58.5.

D-K at Constantine

The Constantine track and field teams hosted Delton-Kellogg in prep action on Wednesday.

The Falcon boys won 77-60 in the dual matchup, the two schools tied the girls’ event 67-67.

The Constantine boys claimed first place in 10 of 17 events.

Dean Topolski won three of those events. He paced the field in the 100 dash at 11.63 seconds, won the 200 dash at 23.25 seconds and took home first place in the 400 52.47 seconds.

Ethan Glick claimed first place in the distance races. Glick posted a time of 4:58.37 to win the mile, his time in the two-mile run was 11:03.81.

Julian Hawthorne ran to first place in the 800 run at 2:11.74.

Hawthorne, Charles Morris, Donovan Miller and Collin Featherstone raced to first place in the mile relay as well. They posted a time of 3:39.99 to win.

Hawthorne helped the Falcons win the two-mile relay as well. He teamed up with Glick, Isaac Moore and Featherstone to run a time of 8:58.04 and claim victory.

James Sailor was first overall in the high jump, clearing 5-7. Brody Jones won the pole vault with a height of 11-0.

The Constantine girls won eight events.

Caterina Thelen was first overall in the discus with a distance of 87-10. She also won the shot put at 32-3.

The Lady Falcons won a pair of relays. In the two-mile relay, the team of Kaitlyn Ross, Kathryn Hochstetler, Jasmine Hanft and Corinne Shoup had a time of 14:03.48. The 400 relay team of Irene Lopez-Gasco, Thelen, Jessica Ambs and Abigail Flores took first at 56.18 seconds.

Flores also ran to first place in the 100 hurdles at 18.82 seconds, Ross ran to first place in the 800 run with a time of 3:00.30.

Lopez-Gasco took first place in both the sprint races. She won the 100 dash at 14.61 seconds and the 200 dash at 31.11 seconds.

Bronson at Springport

The Bronson track and field teams traveled to Springport on Wednesday.

The Bronson boys won 82-42, the Springport girls won 72-28.

Sidney Swick ran to first place in two events for the Lady Vikings. She had a time of 6:59.0 in the mile to claim first place, her time of 13:53.9 in the two-mile was good for first place as well.

Jaiden Hayes won both hurdle events. She posted a time of 18.3 seconds to win the 100 hurdles and had a time of 53.8 seconds to pace the 300 hurdles.

Hayes also out-leaped everyone in the long jump. She had a first-place distance of 14-1 feet.

Tyler Wilber raced to first place in the 200 dash at 24.5 seconds. Boston Bucklin won the 400 with a time of 55.3 seconds.

Tanner Norton was first overall in both the 800 (2:29.9) and the mile run at 5:38.0. Perry Lake ran a time of 13:03.6 to win the two-mile run for the Vikings.

In the two-mile relay, Bronson’s team of Norton, Lake, Wilber and Drew Seekman took first place with a time of 10:35.7.

Jordan Shadix won both throwing events. He had a distance of 40-7 in the shot put and 105-8 in the discus.

Isaac Grate won the pole vault, clearing 9-8 feet.
