Centreville track and field teams win conference titles

The Centreville track and field teams claimed conference titles at the Southwest10 Championships on Tuesday. Bangor hosted the events, which saw the Centreville girls post 147.5 points and the boys pile up 149.5 points.

Marcellus came in second for the girls at 109 followed by Mendon with 90.5 points. White Pigeon claimed seventh place at 43.75 total points. Bloomingdale finished second in the boys’ event with 115 points. Hartford took third with 73 followed by Bangor in fourth at 72. White Pigeon and Mendon tied for fifth place with 53 points each.

The Centreville boys won three of the four relays.

Winning the 400 relay was the squad of Dylan Coney, Cody Marshall, Matt Truckenmiller and Gavin Bunning. They ran a time of 45.36 seconds to win that event.

The team of Tyler Swanwick, Jacob Falkenstein, Joshua Falkenstein and Coney ran to first place in the 800 relay, they posted a time of 1:33.70. In the mile relay, Centreville’s team of the Falkensteins, Dominic Smith and Swanwick ran a time of 3:41.45 to pace the field.

Centreville’s other relay team of Chaseton Wyckoff, Brandon Reed, Logan Weis and Ethan Miller ran to second place overall in the two-mile relay at 8:57.01.

Swanwick also won the high jump, he cleared 5-10. Gavin Bunning won the pole vault event, clearing 11-feet.

Joshua Falkenstein came in first place in the 400 run, he ran a time of 52.93 seconds.

Coney came in second place in the sprint races. He was second in the 100 at 11.98 seconds and came in with a time of 23.81 seconds in the 200.

Also winning a conference championship was Seth Miller of White Pigeon. He took first place in the shot put at 43-4.

Jack McCaw of Mendon came in second place in the long jump at 18-9. Centreville’s Zach Vanderhoof came in third at 18-5 and White Pigeon’s Caleb Lane was fifth at 17-6.

McCaw finished third in both sprints. His time was 12.11 seconds in the 100 and 24.13 seconds in the 200.

Weis vaulted to second at 9-6. Quinton Tone of Marcellus finished fifth in the high jump at 5-3.

In discus action, Centreville’s Dylan Palmer placed second overall at 109-6. Kyle Drauch of Marcellus finished fifth in that event at 99-7.

Carter Wilczynski came in fourth place in the shot put with a distance of 38-7. Isiah Ibison finished fifth at 37-10.

White Pigeon’s two-mile relay team of Preston Delarye, Josh Davidson, Jack Williams and Mekhi Singleton totaled a time of 9:22.05 for fourth. The team of Davidson, Singleton, Trent Beeson and Elijah Qualls placed fourth in the mile relay with a time of 3:51.04.

In the 800 relay, White Pigeon claimed second place. The team of Beeson, Dylan Carper, Braxton Neeley and Lane ran a time of 1:38.66 in that one. The Chiefs’ team of Carper, Lane, Neeley and Singleton posted a time of 47.31 seconds in the 400 relay, good for second place.

Mendon’s 400 team of Dylan Cupp, Alex Smith, Ibison and McCaw came in fourth at 47.45 seconds.

Reed ran to second place in the 300 hurdles, he posted a time of 44.48 seconds. Cohen Longacre of Centreville was third at 44.63 seconds, Qualls came in fourth at 45.66 seconds.

In the 110 hurdles, Cordell Jones-McNally finished third at 18.16 seconds, Qualls had a time of 19.04 for fifth place.

Weis ran to third place in the distance races. His time in the mile was 5:02.70 and his two-mile time was 11:05.09.

Wyckoff logged fourth overall in the 800 at 2:14.43.

Mendon’s Presley Allen won the distance races for the girls. Her time in the mile was 5:20.48 and she ran a time of 11:47.50 in the two-mile. Allen also paced the field in the 800, posting a time of 2:26.15.

Keyara Syzmanski took home first place in both throwing events. She totaled a distance of 98-10 to win the discus and 31-4 to win the shot put.

Alivia Stuart vaulted to first place at 8-feet.

Gabby Bowen ran to first place in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.73 seconds. She was second in the 300 at 51.01 seconds.

Centreville won a couple of relays as well.

Jade Kuhbander, Autumn Major, Bella Kessler and Zoe Miller ran a time of 4:24.19 for the mile relay. Bowen, Zoe Miller, Kuhbander and Ellie Miller ran a time of 1:52.85 to win the 800 relay.

Kessler’s time of 28.28 seconds was good for second in the 200, she posted a time of 13.75 seconds for third in the 100. Alexis Ames of Mendon came in fourth in the 100 at 13.97 seconds, she ran a time of 29.25 seconds for fifth in the 200.

Kuhbander ran a time of 1:03.04 for second place in the 400, Zoe Miller was right behind her in third at 1:05.04.

Major ran to second place in both the 800 (2:34.39) and the mile (6:03.26) and race to third in the two-mile run at 13:50.80.

Addie Curtis of Marcellus finished third in the mile at 6:12.55.

In hurdling action, Madi Simpson of Marcellus finished second in the 100 at 17.61 seconds and third in the 300 at 52.62 seconds.

Stuart was fourth in the 100 hurdles at 18.96 seconds, Bella Kangas of Centreville finished fifth at 19.05 seconds. Kangas came in fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 56.74 seconds, Brooklyn VanTilburg of Marcellus was fifth at 57.10.

Marcellus’ 400 relay team finished fifth. Layna Cardella, Leeshay Norman, Lindsay Huss and Michelle Clapp posted a time of 57.90 seconds in that race. The 800 relay team of Cardella, Huss, Clapp and VanTilburg came in third at 2:01.69.

Caylie Stuck, Jasmine Stuller, Shelby McDaniel and Jamielynn Delarye ran a time of 2:03.25 for White Pigeon to take fourth in the 800 relay, Mendon’s team of Alicyn Arevalo, Ames, Kayla Wenzel and Stuart finished fifth at 2:05.24.

Mendon finished fourth in the mile relay. The team of Allen, Arevalo, Chloe Behrends and Wenzel ran a time of 4:48.50 in that one.

In the two-mile relay, Marcellus finished second. Curtis, Merle Muntefering, Veronica Trunzer and Laerke Kronborg posted a time of 11:34.86 in that one. White Pigeon’s team of Delarye, Rachel Schelstraete, McDaniel and Hayley Strawser ran a time of 12:10.03 for fourth while Centreville’s team of Adalae Hackett, Kali Evens, Frances Mildenberg and Ellie Miller posted a time of 13:39.36 for fifth.

Jenna Wells of Marcellus finished second in the discus with a toss of 88-7. She was third in the shot at 29-5. Ellie McBride of White Pigeon was fourth in the shot at 29-3,

Alexandra Hooker finished third in the discus at 86-6.

Simpson’s high jump was 4-10, good for second place. VanTilburg came in fourth at 4-8 and Arevalo was fifth in that one at 4-3, which was tied with Mara Webb of Centreville.

Talan Hiemstra’s vault of 7-6 was second.

Zoe Miller leaped 14-8.75 feet for second in the long jump. Simpson came in third at 14-feet.
