Centreville woman killed in two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 82

A 34-year-old Centreville woman died and two children were injured in a Friday morning crash in Bibb County.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Jennifer C. Chism was killed when her 2018 Jeep Compass was involved in a collision with a 2007 Peterbilt tractor-trailer on U.S. Highway 82.

Chism was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, about 5 miles east of Centreville.

Two 8-year-old passengers in Chism's Jeep were injured and airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Chism was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to troopers.

Troopers said the driver of the tractor-trailer, 53-year-old David K. Lovett of Haleyville, was injured and taken to Bibb County Medical Center in Centreville.

Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
