"A Century of Traditons": Texas Tech to host homecoming events for students, staff, alumni

Texas Tech will celebrate "A Century of Traditions" at this year's homecoming festivities.

Tech will kick off homecoming week on Monday, Oct. 9, at the Raider Plaza at noon and will conclude the festivities at the Tech vs. Kansas State football game at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Here's a list of homecoming events:

  • Oct. 9 — Kickoff at noon at Red Raider Plaza Outdoor Area

  • Oct. 11 — Make-your-own Photo Mug at 10:30 a.m. in Student Union Indoor Courtyard

  • Oct. 11 — Student Organization (S.O.) Sing at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the United Supermarket Arena

  • Oct. 12 — Tamale Fest between Colleges of Media & Communications and Architecture at 10 a.m.

  • Oct. 12 — Raider Ringing Cowbells at 11 a.m. at Red Raider Plaza Gazebo

  • Oct. 12 — Techsan Memorial at Memorial Circle. The SUB Matador Room has been designated as the back up location if it rains.

  • Oct. 13 — Rowdy Raider Rally at noon in Red Raider Plaza – Outdoor Area.

  • Oct. 13. — Homecoming Parade at 6 p.m. passing through the Texas Tech Broadway entrance, weather permitting

  • Oct. 13 — Pep Rally & Bonfire at 8 p.m. Friday in Urbanovsky Park, weather permitting

  • Oct. 14 — Raidergate at 2 p.m. in R-3 parking lot

  • Oct. 14 — Kansas State vs. Texas Tech at 6 p.m.

Throughout the week, the Lubbock community can see the spirit boards from various student organizations, fraternities and sororities line the Broadway entrance of the campus and spirit banners hanging in the SUB Courtyard.
