CEO of Fort Worth’s JPS Health Network gets raise, contract extension

The board of managers for Tarrant County’s public hospital agreed to give CEO and president Dr. Karen Duncan at least another three years in the top spot, plus a raise.

The board of managers for JPS Health Network voted Thursday to offer Duncan a contract for another three years, with the option for two one-year extensions. The board also voted 8-2 to increase Duncan’s base salary to $950,000. As CEO for JPS, Duncan is responsible for overseeing the county’s public hospital network, which operates one of the busiest emergency rooms in the nation and cares for a majority of the county’s residents without health insurance.

In a statement, JPS spokesperson Jessica Virnoche said the board’s decision brings Duncan’s base pay “more closely in-line with that of her peers running similar, complex health systems in the market.”
