CEO Perry Gay resigns from Logansport Memorial Hospital; David Ameen takes over

Mar. 23—David Ameen is back leading Logansport Memorial Hospital, for now.

The hospital announced Thursday that president and CEO Perry Gay has resigned from his position, effective Wednesday, March 22. Ameen, a longtime healthcare executive who served as CEO of LMH from 2010-2015 before retiring, has been appointed by the Board of Trustees to serve as interim CEO until a permanent replacement is selected.

Gay served the organization as CEO since 2016, with a tenure of 7 years, and helped lead several key additions to the hospital, including the breast care center and family birth center.

"I am grateful for the time I have spent at Logansport Memorial and proud of the way our hospital has served the community," Gay said in a news release. "It's been an honor to work alongside so many talented healthcare professionals, who have all shared the same unwavering commitment to do what is needed and what is best for our patients."

Gay served as CEO of Toppenish Community Hospital, in Toppenish, Washington, before accepting the position in Logansport.

Ameen is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has spent his career in healthcare, holding several previous CEO roles before his first tenure at Logansport Memorial Hospital began in 2010. He has a Masters of Science in Health Services Administration and a Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy, both from the University of Michigan.

"Healthcare is experiencing unprecedented challenges as an industry, and these are incredibly difficult times for hospitals across the country," Ameen said. "But working in healthcare is a calling, and serving the patients and communities that depend on the care provided is the highest priority shared by employees and leaders across the LMH organization. I am focused on that as the hospital moves forward and continues to be here for all who need us."

The hospital did not provide additional comments. In the press release, the hospital said more information about the change will follow when it becomes available.

"We acknowledge and appreciate Perry's service to the hospital and the community, and we wish him well in the future," said Scott Stebbins, Chairman of the LMH Board of Trustees. "David is familiar with the hospital's operations and with the communities we serve. We believe his assistance during this time of transition will provide stability and support for hospital physicians, providers and employees, as well as for our patients across the north-central Indiana region."
