Ceremony will honor fallen Worcester Firefighter Jon Davies

WORCESTER - A short ceremony will be held at the Franklin Street Fire Station Thursday evening to remember Firefighter Jon Davies Sr.
It has been 11 years since Davies died while battling a fire at a house at 49 Arlington St. He got caught in a collapse.
Davies was 43.
The ceremony gets underway at 6 p.m. Thursday.
On Friday, a ceremony will be held at the Webster Square Fire Station to recognize Firefighter Christopher Roy. He died on Dec. 9, 2018, in a house fire on Lowell Street. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m.
Last week at the Franklin Street Fire Station, the city memorialized the six Worcester firefighters who died in the Worcester Cold Storage & Warehouse blaze of Dec. 3, 1999: Lt. Thomas Spencer, 42, and Lt. James Lyons, 34, of Worcester; and firefighters Paul Brotherton, 41, of Auburn; Lt. Timothy Jackson, 51, of Hopedale; Jeremiah Lucey, 38, of Leicester; and Joseph McGuirk, 38, of Worcester.
It is a somber time of year for the Fire Department.
Lt. Jason Menard, 39, died battling a blaze in a three-family house at 7 Stockholm St., Nov. 13, 2019.
