CFP Tracker: Monitoring Alabama’s playoff chances following Tennessee win

What a great day to be a fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. With a win on Saturday against the Tennessee Volunteers, the Tide advanced to 7-1 on the season and climbed even further in the latest USA TODAY AFCA Coaches’ Poll and the AP Poll.

That great performance late by the Tide, coupled with the struggle that Oklahoma went through against the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence, helped push the Crimson Tide up to No. 3 in both major polls.

The Sooners pulled away late to beat to squeak by the 1-6 Jayhawks by a score of 35-23.

The only other team in front of the Crimson Tide, Georgia, had a bye date this week ahead of their rivalry game against Florida this Saturday.

The Crimson Tide will take the week off this week to prepare for its own rivalry game against the LSU Tigers on Nov. 6. Roll Tide Wire will provide you with an update on the kickoff time as soon as one is set.

While we still have a couple of weeks until the College Football Playoff Poll comes out, I have a good feeling that the Tide has a great chance of making the playoff if they can continue to win.

The greatest tests remaining at this point of the season will be against Arkansas, Auburn, and potentially Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.

If Alabama can beat all three they’re all but guaranteed a spot in the CFP. If they drop any, no matter to whom it’s against, they will not get a spot. No team with two losses has ever gotten a spot in the CFP and I don’t see that changing this time around.

All in all, Alabama fans should maintain confidence in the Crimson Tide’s chances, knowing that the team understands what they have to do if they want to get in. They control their own destiny.
