CFP Week 5 rankings and bowl selection show: Cincinnati awaits final rankings

The University of Cincinnati Bearcats completed an undefeated regular season with a 35-13 road win over East Carolina last Friday.

Now, the team will await its latest College Football Playoff ranking before hosting Houston at Nippert Stadium for the American Athletic Conference Championship.

Cincinnati (12-0, 8-0 AAC) climbed to No. 3 in the latest Associated Press rankings released Sunday. The Bearcats jumped over Alabama for the third spot with a win over East Carolina and after the Crimson Tide snuck by rival Auburn.

Last week, Cincinnati became the first team from a non-power-five conference to earn a spot in the top four of the College Football Playoff rankings. The Bearcats ascended from No. 6 in the committee's first ranking on Nov. 2 to No. 4 on Nov. 23.

After Saturday's slate of conference championship games, the committee will determine its final rankings of the season and select which teams will compete in the College Football Playoff.

The Bearcats host No. 16 Houston at 4 p.m. Saturday.
