Chad Robert Ryan, 45, of Dover guilty of attempt to compel prostitution

A 45-year-old Dover man is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 8 for three charges arising from an investigation by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.

Chad Robert Ryan, of Schneiders Crossing Road NW, pleaded guilty Wednesday to reduced charges in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court in Lisbon.

He will be sentenced on attempted compelling prostitution, attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and importuning.

Potential punishments for attempted compelling prostitution and attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor are three to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine. The potential punishment for importuning is three months to a year in prison and a $2,500 fine.

Ryan was originally charged with compelling prostitution, attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, possessing criminal tools, importuning and soliciting.

Ryan was arrested by East Palestine police officers when he arrived at a location where he thought he was going to pay $1,000 to have sex with a woman and her 14-year-old daughter. Agents subsequently served a search warrant at his Dover home where a computer, cell phone, and other electronic media were seized to be examined for child pornography.

The arrest occurred May 8, 2021 in Columbiana County.

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio Investigative Unit assisted with the case.

The Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force includes resources from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, New Waterford Police Department, Cortland Police Department, Austintown Police Department, Youngstown Police Department, the Ohio Investigative Unit and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
