David Duchovny has signed on for an untitled, upcoming Netflix rom-com from Black-ish creator Kenya Barris.

The Chair actor's involvement was announced today (October 4) alongside Empire's Nia Long, in a report published by Deadline. The pair join existing players Lauren London (Without Remorse), Sam Jay (Saturday Night Live) and Molly Gordon (Booksmart).

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in The Falcon and the Winter Solder and Black Widow, Eddie Murphy and Wolf of Wall Street's Jonah Hill round out the star-studded cast.

According to the same publication, the movie is set to follow a new interracial couple (Hill and London) and their nearest and dearest, as they navigate "modern love and family dynamics amidst clashing cultures, societal expectations and generational differences."

Barris will direct and produce through Khalabo Ink Society, and Hill will produce under his Strong Baby banner. The duo will be joined by Kevin Misher, who's lined up to produce through Misher Films.

Mychelle Deschamps and Hale Rothstein will exec produce for Khalabo Ink Society, along with Matt Dines and Ali Goodwin for Strong Baby; Andy Berman for Misher Films and David Hyman and Charisse Hewitt Webste.

The project marks Long's second collaboration with Barris, who co-wrote the screenplay with Hill, after appearing in his previous Netflix outing #BlackAF, alongside himself, Iman Benson, Genneya Walton and Parks and Recreation's Rashida Jones.

Duchovny, who is perhaps best known for his role as alien-obsessed FBI agent Fox Mulder in long-running sci-fi series The X Files, has recently wrapped production on Paramount Players' new Pet Sematary prequel, so will likely be seen in that beforehand.
