“Leaders of the Week” were named Dec. 2 at Wenzel Elementary in Sturgis. Here is a roundup, with teacher comments.

Kindergarten

Miss. Hibbard’s class. Benny is such a calm, quiet, sweet presence in our classroom. We are so happy to call him a member of our kindergarten family. He is a great friend to all of his classmates.

Mrs. Tisdel’s class. Gerald has worked so hard lately to be a better leader. He is getting his work done and making good choices. We are SO proud of him. Good job, Gerald!

First grade

Mrs. Bloomfield’s class. Aldo is such a fun-spirited first grader! He has really shown how much hard work can pay off by asking to do his sight words whenever he can with any of the teachers or the helpers. This has given him a growth mindset as he has moved to the next level in sight words! Great job Aldo.

Mr. Dilts’ class. Tyler is such a kind young man. He works hard, is helpful to others, and is a friend to all. Keep doing great things Tyler!

Second grade

Mrs. Alwine’s class. Cristian has been doing an awesome job at school. He has been working hard and putting forth his best effort every day. I am so proud of all of his hard work. Keep up the great work Cristian!

Mrs. Hamlin’s class. Victoria leads by example every day of the week. She is hard-working and generous when helping others. Victoria has the best laugh and makes everyone feel that they are a part of our class. Keep up the great job Victoria!

Title 1

Ms. Pueschel. Adamaris is a sweetheart. She is one of the hardest-working students at school. She always does her best and loves to write stories. I am super proud of her progress. Keep up the great work, Adamaris!

Artwork on display at library

First graders in room 119 at Wall Elementary in Sturgis are happy to have their artwork on display at Sturgis District Library. Their artwork is based on the theme “Our Winter Favorites,” and the learning standard for understanding that a noun is a word that is a person (self portrait), place (mixed media Christmas Village), or thing (agamograph of a snowman and a cup of hot cocoa).

Wenzel buddy program underway

Wenzel second graders love spending time each week with their buddies from the high school, officials there said. It’s an amazing program where both the older and the younger students benefit, they said.
