Chamber Corner: Featured members stay people-focused in service industry

The Spring Hill Chamber of Commerce is spotlighting members this month that provide services in the food and banking industries. Their varied backgrounds have helped shape their career paths with lessons learned along the way. The featured members are part of new and growing businesses, helping the Spring Hill community and the greater surrounding area.

How long have you been in business in Spring Hill?Two and a half yearsWhat was the first job you ever had?U.S. ArmyHow has your career path placed you in your current position?After 30 years with Verizon, I needed to get away from technology. I was a customer in Virginia Beach and there was not anything like Tropical Smoothie Cafe here in Spring Hill.

How do you give back to the community through your business?I employ about 25 students at a time.  On many occasions, I've watched them develop from their first work experience to running a shift at the cafe.

Who is your favorite business mentor or role model?Jeff Wolfe, a former manager who taught me why we do what we do to support those we love around us.

What is your favorite thing to do when not at work?Relax and work around our lake houseWhat is your favorite movie? John Wayne's "Big Jake," the first movie I saw at a drive-in.

Who is your favorite business mentor or role model?Nick Key.What is your favorite thing to do when not at work?Spending time with my husband, Ryan. Enjoying the outdoors on our property whether that be riding around, fire pit sitting, or just relaxing.

What did you want to be when you were a child?I wanted to be a teacher.
