Chamber honors Henderson County small businesses at Blue Ridge Business Growth Awards
The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce recently hosted its annual Blue Ridge Business Growth Awards at Southern Appalachian Brewery. This was the kick-off event for Small Business Week in Henderson County.
Awards were presented by Brock Goodling of TD Bank and Chamber Small Business Committee Chairman Bill Schreck of United Federal Credit Union.
“We are pleased to support the small, growth-oriented businesses that are the backbone of the local economy,” said Goodling. “They are the businesses that keep the economy humming.”
"Small businesses are not only job creators and investors in our community, they also are key supporters of charitable and civic enterprises – ranging from sports to the arts,” Schreck said.
The Chamber hosts this event each year during small business week as a way to highlight the successes of Henderson County’s small business community. This year there were 11 Business Growth Award Recipients and two Rising Stars (start-up business in operation for less than three years). Along with presenting sponsor TD Bank, the event was supported by Optimum, The Salty Landing and Southern Appalachian Brewery.
"Our community continues to build an entrepreneurial environment (that) supports and cultivates small business success,” according to Chamber Chairman Randy Hunter. “We are also fortunate to be in a community where the residents understand the importance and benefits of shopping locally.”
