Blackillac at Antone’s

At Austin City Limits Music Festival 2019, Blackillac rappers Phranchyze and Zeale stormed the stage during a super-jam hosted by their high school homie, Gary Clark Jr. Phranchyze charmed the crowd by name-checking “The Golden Girls.” Then Zeale unleashed a ballistic blitz that included a shout out to Vince Young, a challenge to the entire Austin Police Department and a proposal for a Black Mount Rushmore featuring himself, Phran and Clark, which actually felt plausible in the moment. The crowd went wild. It was one of ATX hip-hop’s proudest moments. Riding on the strength of two career-best 2022 albums, they take the stage at Clark’s club to kick 2022 to the curb. Mama Duke and the Bros Fresh open. $28 antonesnightclub.com.

Hotel Vegas Glitter’s Eve

Break out the blue eyeliner and spike your hair. Austin’s favorite eastside rock dive takes the year out with a trash-disco, glam-rock dance party. The theme is a departure from the club’s traditional end-of-year bash centered around the top artists of a particular year, but it will still present a selection of singalong hits from yesteryear. Favorite Austin acts like A Giant Dog, Nolan Potter’s Nightmare Band and Moving Panoramas will take on the music of The Damned, David Bowie, Olivia Newton-John, Steely Dan and more. $24.54. texashotelvegas.com.

Pat Green at ACL Live

The Fort Worth-based singer-songwriter released “Miles and Miles of You,” his first studio album since 2015 in August. As he was writing, the songs flowed naturally. “There is a lot of formulaic country music out there,” he told the Dallas Morning News. “I just don’t know how to do that. I just kind of sit down (with) my instrument and start playing on something I like and then I keep going until it’s over.” Corey Kent and Kody West open. $39 and up. acllive.com.

Daikaiju New Year’s Party at the Hole in the Wall

The Mavericks at Gruene Hall

Raul Malo, whom former Statesman writer Peter Blackstock called “one of the great American vocalists of his time,” leaned into his Latino roots on the band’s most recent album, “En Espanol.” He brought songs from the album and the band’s back catalog of classic country and cowpunk to life in a 2020 “Austin City Limits” taping. If you want to ring in 2023 boot-scootin’ with the Mavs in a historic dance hall, start scouring the internet now.
