Audrey Ramsey declined the interview opportunity.

All of the finalists will be publicly interviewed at a special board meeting on Tuesday, April 9. The meeting will start at 5 p.m. and will take place at the Mellon Administrative Center at 703 S. New Street.

Champaign Board member Betsy Holder said on her Facebook page she disagreed with the process of narrowing down candidates. The five board members picked their top three candidates, but Holder requested a straw poll for anonymity.

“I apologize to everyone who did not feel as if the process was fair and transparent,” she wrote. “I would encourage you to consider running for the 5 available spots next spring when the public elects the candidates and not a board majority of 3.”

Holder also notes the regional Superintendent will choose candidates if the board cannot agree with a three out of five majority on candidates.
