Since 1934, the Augusta National Golf Club has hosted some of the world's best golfers, and awarded the best of the best with a trademark green jacket.

Soon, another champion will be crowned.

But until then, here is a look at the past winners of the Masters Tournament:

Who won last year's Masters Tournament?

Last year's Masters was the first major championship title for Scottie Scheffler from Ridgewood, New Jersey. He started that Sunday at 9 under and finished at 10 under, beating Rory McIlroy by three strokes. McIlroy had an 8-under 64 on the day, tied for the best final round in Masters history.

He was particularly excited to win a lifetime invitation back to the tournament.

“That’s the coolest part about this whole deal,” Scheffler said. “This is such a fun golf course, it’s such a fun piece of property. It’s Augusta National. It’s about as cool as it gets. It’s so fun to play. I just can’t believe I can come back for a lifetime and enjoy this golf course.”

Who is the youngest Masters champion?

Though Scheffler was one of the youngest at age 25, five-time champion Tiger Woods is still holds the record for youngest to ever win a green jacket. He won his first in 1997 at age 21, and went on to win again in 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2019.

Who has the most Masters wins?

With six wins, Jack Nicklaus holds the record for most Masters Tournament victories. "The Golden Bear" was also the first back-to-back winner, winning the tournament in 1965 and 1966. His other Masters victories came in 1963, 1972, 1975 and 1986.

Also, at age 46 in 1965, Nicklaus also holds the record for oldest to ever win a jacket.

Have any Augusta-area locals ever won the Masters?

The only local golfer to win the Masters was Larry Mize in 1987. Mize will be competing in this year's Masters, but has confirmed that this will be his last.

Other champions with Georgia ties include Claude Harmon (1948), who was born in Savannah, and Tommy Aaron (1973) from Gainesville.
