The Salina Liberty outscored Omaha 22-6 in the second half Saturday night to rally from a 12-point deficit and beat the Beef, 38-34, in Champions Bowl VII at Tony's Pizza Events Center.

It is the first Champions Indoor Football title for the Liberty, who avenged a 40-39 loss to Omaha in last year's Champions Bowl on the same field.

Javin Kilgo hit Demarius Washington with fourth-down touchdown passes of 4 and 12 yards to put the Liberty over the top. Tre Griffin and Tristan Gould, filling in for injured running back Tracy Brooks, each scored once for Salina.

Omaha dominated the first half, scoring touchdowns on all four possessions to lead 28-16 at the break. But the Salina defense stiffened in the second half, turning the Beef over on downs to start the third quarter, then getting the first of two interceptions from Evan Ray.
