Take a chance to win a wins shed

May 23—NORWALK — The "Uncorked Wine Shed" will debut this weekend at the Norwalk Strawberry Festival. Firelands Habitat for Humanity volunteers will be selling raffle tickets to win the shed which features an indoor/outdoor wine bar.

"Our Women Build Committee comes up with a different design for our raffle sheds each year, this year's wine shed theme is one of their best," said Mike McCall, executive director of Firelands Habitat for Humanity.

The 8 by 16 shed has French doors leading to the inside wine bar which features a stained glass window with grapevines and a wine bottle. The window was hand-made by Women Build team member Dana Riley. The shed includes a wine fridge, and a one-of-a-kind wine desk made from an antique spindle sewing machine. There's also a 100-bottle wine rack with vintage E&K wine bottles. Two large wine bottles from Firelands Winery made into lights hang over the bar.

Guests can sit at the outside bar with its unique sideways storm door donated by Koch Aluminum. The bar is faux marble painted by Jana Pierce. There's also a hammock chair on the front porch to relax in while you sip your wine. Unfortunately, due to state liquor laws, wine will not be sold at the shed.

Raffle tickets to win the shed will be sold during festival hours and are also available at the ReStore at 7602 Milan Road, Sandusky.

Second place is a $300 gift card to Barnes Nursery and third prize is a $100 gift card to Firelands Winery. The Uncorked Wine Shed will be at area festivals all summer long. The winning tickets will be drawn at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 5.

"This is our fourth shed raffle," McCall said. "Our Women Build Committee has raised over $35,000 to help build Habitat homes. These sheds help raise awareness of all the ways you can repurpose used items found at the ReStore and help cover our ever increasing construction costs."
