Chandler is 7th nationally for high schools with most NFL Draft picks in the last decade

Chandler High School takes pride in producing state football champions and seeing them ultimately get to the NFL.

In the last 10 years, there have been seven former Wolves taken in the NFL Draft. That ranks tied for seventh nationally among high schools for most NFL draft picks during that time, according to a report by MaxPreps.

St. Thomas Aquinas out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has the most with 18 NFL draft picks in the last 10 years, followed by another Florida powerhouse, IMG Academy with 14. There are two more Florida schools -- Miami Northwestern (11) and Plantation American Heritage (nine) are third and fourth.

Gardena (California) Serra is tied for fourth with nine, followed by Allen (Texas) with eight. Chandler has seven, along with St. Petersburg (Florida) Lakewood, which had three taken in the 2018 draft.

There is a chance Chandler could add to that list if Oregon wide receiver Johnny Johnson III and Arizona State cornerback Chase Lucas are taken in the last two days of the draft.

In 2013, it was a big day for Chandler during the three-day NFL draft with former Wolves Marc Anthony, Dion Jordan and Markus Wheaton all taken.

Jordan, a 6-foot-6 defensive lineman at Oregon, was the third overall pick, taken by the Miami Dolphins.

In 2015, quarterback Brett Hundley, who starred at UCLA, was taken by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round, the 147th overall pick.

Running back Paul Perkins, who also played at UCLA, was picked in 2016 by the New York Giants in the fifth round.

Three years later, wide receiver N'Keal Harry, who played at Arizona State, was the last player chosen in the first round by the New England Patriots at No. 32.

Then, the following year, offensive lineman Dustin Woodard, who played at Memphis, went in the seventh round to the Patriots.

"Our staff works hard at providing a foundation for success with our players in college," Chandler coach Rick Garretson said. "When they take that to the NFL, it's rewarding to know that if all started at Chandler."

Overall, Chandler has had 11 players in the NFL, most notably defensive end Camerons Jordan (New Orleans Saints) and safety Adam Archuleta (St. Louis Rams).
