How to change your Discord account password, and keep your data secure

You can change your Discord password as a safety precaution, or if you believe your old one is no longer secure.
To change your Discord password, you'll need to head to your Discord account's options menu.
So, you've been hacked. Someone found one of your passwords, or there was a data breach, and now you need to change all your login information.
If you use Discord as your primary communication tool, there's a lot of material you might not want to get out. Luckily, Discord lets you change your password at any time.
Here's how to change your Discord password using the desktop app for Mac and PC, or the mobile app for iPhone and Android devices.

How to change your Discord password on desktop
1. Open the Discord application on your Mac and PC. At the bottom left of your screen, near your profile picture, you'll see a small gear icon. Click it.

2. In the "My Account" tab (which should open immediately), click the blue "Edit" button.
3. Click "Change password." This will reveal a new text field labeled "New Password."

4. Type in your current password, then type in the new password you want to change it to in the "New Password" field.

5. Click "Save."
How to change your Discord password on mobile
1. Open the Discord app on your iPhone or Android device and tap the three horizontal lines in the top-left corner of the screen. This will open the left sidebar menu.
2. At the bottom-right of this page, you'll either see your profile picture (on an iPhone) or a gear (on Android). Tap it to open your settings.

3. In the menu that opens, tap "Account."
4. Select "Change Password."

5. Here, you'll be asked to enter your current password and the new password that you want. Fill in both, and then tap "Save" in the top-right corner. You may have to tap "Done" on your phone's keyboard as well.
Note that as soon as you change your password, you'll be logged out of all other Discord sessions you're logged into. This means that when you change your password on desktop, your mobile app will be logged out, and vice versa.
