Changing Footprints fundraiser a success

Jan. 30—RUSHVILLE — Twelve teams comprised of as many as eight members each gathered at the 201 Building on the northwest corner of Second and Main streets Saturday evening for Changing Footprints' annual trivia contest fundraiser.

Following 10 rounds of 10 questions each, the team comprised of Bonnie Miller, Scott Medd, Lisa Boaz, Ken Howard, Paul Gaunt, Hanny Sams and Jacob Huesman — playing in Heidi Montgomery Medd's name — were declared event champions following multiple tie-breaker questions between three teams that initially scored a very admirable 94 correct answers each out of the 100 questions posed.

Heidi, wife of Scott Medd, died Oct. 15, 2022, from cancer. Three of the winning team's members — Scott Medd, Bonnie Miller and Paul Gaunt — were classmates of Heidi's, having all graduated from Rushville Consolidated High School in 1982.

WRTV-6 personality Rafael Sanchez served as the emcee for the event, which also featured a range of provided snacks and beverages for attendees.

Changing Footprints is a charitable organization that originated in Rushville and provides shoes for people in need.

According to the Changing Footprints website: "Changing Footprints realizes the great need for shoes around the world as protection from diseases and a gateway to education. Because of that need we collect new and gently used shoes for distribution to homeless, disaster-stricken, or underprivileged people locally, nationally, and internationally regardless of race, religion, gender, or ethnicity.

As a nonprofit, registered 501©3 organization founded in 2005, we operate out of 5 warehouses located in Rushville, north and south Indianapolis, Hancock County, and New Haven, Indiana.

As our reputation has grown, we have had the pleasure of working with many social service agencies, church missions, medical relief teams, military personnel, and disaster relief teams, requesting shoes for their missions.

We never lose sight of our mission since we work personally with teams who actually take the shoes and see that they reach those in need.
