The first of two rounds of the Sunflower Showdown takes place Saturday when the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kansas State Wildcats square off in Manhattan at Bramlage Coliseum.

The basketball series between the Jayhawks and Wildcats dates back to 1920. Kansas currently holds a 201-94 lead over K-State in the rivalry. The Jayhawks have won five of the last six meetings between the two teams. The Wildcats’ last win against Kansas came at home in 2019.

Kansas enters Saturday’s game with a three-game win streak. Most recently, Bill Self’s team defeated Oklahoma on the road 67-64 to improve their record to 4-1 in Big 12 play.

As for K-State, the Wildcats are also entering Saturday’s contest with some momentum. Bruce Weber’s squad has won its last two games. Most recently, Kansas State came away with a 66-65 win in Austin against Texas. Prior to their last two wins, Kansas State dropped four straight Big 12 games before getting back in the win column.
