Nursing a three-game losing streak, Ohio State will head to Jersey Mike's Arena to face a Rutgers team it already defeated this season, albeit in controversial fashion.
In the Big Ten opener for Ohio State, the Buckeyes beat the Scarlet Knights 67-66 on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Tanner Holden. The next day, the Big Ten released a statement saying that, because he had been out of bounds prior to receiving the pass, Holden's shot should not have counted.
The statement didn't change the result of the game, and since then Rutgers has won six of eight games including a victory at No. 1 Purdue on Jan. 2, the lone blemish of the season for the Boilermakers to this point. The Buckeyes, however, have lost four of their last season including three straight since the game.
"You just focus on the task at hand and that is getting better," coach Chris Holtmann said after Thursday's 70-67 home loss to Minnesota. "We’re not focusing on the big picture. We have to get better in areas. That’s the charge in front of me."
