Channellock to be featured on TV's 'How America Works' show with Mike Rowe on Monday

An iconic Meadville company will be featured in an upcoming episode of television's "How America Works" program.

Host Mike Rowe will lead viewers behind the scenes at Channellock Inc. to see how the company makes its iconic pliers and its role in keeping America working. The episode will be shown on the Fox Business Network on Monday at 8 p.m.

The television crew spent 10 days filming at Channellock's two Meadville plants. The episode will focus on a day in the work life of five Channellock employees: Todd Fleet, a robotic forger operator; Ken Pardee, assembler; Josh Malliard, Martemper operator; Kevin Nellis, cell operator; and David Thiess, maintenance supervisor.

It was an honor to host Rowe and to be featured on the program, said Jon DeArment, Channellock's chief operating officer.

"Mike did a terrific job highlighting the numerous challenges our company and our hard-working associates overcome on a daily basis, which customers don't see when they reach for our products," DeArment said.

Channellock has made Tongue & Groove Pliers and other hand tools since its founding by George DeArment in 1886.
