Channing Tatum is taking Magic Mike in a new direction with TV show

Magic Mike has already successfully made the transition from film to live stage show, and now it's taking on a new form: a reality TV show.
As announced in The Hollywood Reporter, The Real Magic Mike will come to HBO Max later this year, with Channing Tatum and director Steven Soderbergh being among the executive producers.
The competition show will focus on 10 men who have 'lost their magic', and see them compete in various challenges in order to win a cash prize and a chance to appear in a Magic Mike live stage show.

The synopsis states that the men "will bare their souls and more as they evolve their bodies, learn to perform spectacular routines, and develop a new level of self-confidence.
"As they strip off their clothes, they will rid themselves of emotional baggage and regain their mojo, but only one will be the Real Magic Mike."
HBO Max's head of original content, Sarah Aubrey, said: "We're excited to work with Channing, Steven and the team behind Magic Mike Live to continue this successful franchise that celebrates self-confidence and sexiness both inside and out."

Meanwhile, Warner Bros' president of unscripted TV Mike Darnell said: "We couldn't be more excited to be working with Channing, Steven and HBO Max on an all-new vision of this amazing and legendary brand."
