Apr. 20—San Francisco-based Grammy Award-winning Chanticleer will perform at Santa Fe's Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, 131 Cathedral Place, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5.

The singers will perform the newly-commissioned piece "Beauty of the Day" from composer Nico Muhly.

Praised by the San Francisco Chronicle for its "tonal luxuriance and crisply etched clarity," Chanticleer is known around the world as "an orchestra of voices" for its blend of 12 male voices ranging from soprano to bass, and its original interpretations of vocal literature from Renaissance to jazz, pop, and contemporary compositions.

"Beauty of the Day," Mulhy's powerful collaborative piece, written especially for Chanticleer, church pipe organ, and a large chorus, will feature the Santa Fe Symphony Chorus and Albuquerque organist Maxine Thévenot.

Tickets are $35-$95 at performancesantafe.org.Masks and proof of vaccination required.
