Chaplin Elementary School will welcome students back Aug. 25

Aug. 22—Chaplin Elementary School will welcome students back for the 2022- 23 school year on August 25th.

Teachers return for professional development and preparation on Aug. 23 and 24. A Back- to- School Night for families to visit their children's classrooms will be held on Sept. 1.

This fall, the school is following the " Launching into Healthy Learning" strategies endorsed by the Connecticut Department of Public Health, the Connecticut Department of Education and the Office of Early Childhood. The strategies are intended to maximize in- person learning opportunities as much as possible, and Chaplin Elementary will utilize the ' Test- Mask- Go' tool developed by state officials for this school year as part of the response to the coronavirus pandemic. Children who have mild respiratory symptoms, but do not test positive for the virus and do not have a fever may continue to attend school in- person, while wearing a mask.

The school also offers the Chaplin KIDS program, which provides beforeschool and after- school care for students for a fee.

The before- school care program runs from 7: 45 a. m. to 8: 30 a. m. and costs $ 13 per week per child, plus an additional $ 6.50 per sibling.

The after- school care program is available from 3: 15 to 5: 30 p. m., or from 1: 30 to 5: 30 p. m. on half- days. On the full school day schedule, the weekly cost is $ 6 per child who stays until 4 p. m., $ 12 per child who stays until 5 p. m. and $ 17 per child who stays until 5: 30 p. m. Siblings attending the after- care program are charged half the price. On the half school day schedule, the weekly cost is $ 6 per child per week who stays until 2 p. m., $ 12 per child who stays until 3 p. m., $ 15 per child who stays until 4 p. m., $ 20 per child who stays until 5 p. m. and $ 25 per child who stays until 5: 30 p. m. Siblings are charged at the half- price rate.
