Auburn provided the first real scare of the 2019 NCAA men’s tournament Thursday afternoon, surviving with the aid of bizarre decisions by New Mexico State down the stretch.

Twitter, as it does, had some intense reactions to the end of what could have been this year’s 5-12 upset.

Proud alum Charles Barkley, who revealed his bracket earlier in the day, dominated the immediate aftermath with his reaction. He has Auburn advancing to the Sweet 16.

Which, of course, led into a calming message from head coach Bruce Pearl.

“Charles, relax,” Pearl said during the post-game interview. “We got this. We got this. I need ya brother. I need ya to be healthy. I don’t need that heart palpitating. Charles was sweating in the studio more than I’m sweating.”

We don’t know about that, coach.

It was a rough Thursday afternoon.

Fellow No. 5 Wisconsin knew what was up.
