Charley Casserly: Titans, Colts have serious interest in OT Teven Jenkins

Take this for what it’s worth, but NFL Network analyst and former general manager Charley Casserly says the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts have serious interest in Oklahoma State offensive tackle, Teven Jenkins.

“For the Titans, it’s a no-brainer. This guy is going to be better than Jack Conklin, who they selected in the top-10,” Casserly said, as transcribed by our own Shaun Calderon.

Broadway Sports’ Justin Melo added that he has heard the Titans have met with Jenkins “several times” throughout the pre-draft process, which backs up the notion that Tennessee has a close eye on him.

If the Titans want Jenkins they’ll have to target him in the first round, either at No. 22 overall or after trading back, as it’s highly unlikely he lasts until they are back on the clock in the second round.

Tennessee may even have to trade up for him seeing as how the Colts might also have interest at No. 21. If that’s the case, the Titans do have a wealth of picks to make it happen.

After the debacle that was 2020 first-round pick Isaiah Wilson, it was almost unfathomable that the Titans would spend another first-round selection on an offensive tackle in 2021.

But that notion changed once the Titans released 2020 starting right tackle Dennis Kelly in what was a surprise move that left the Titans with a hole upfront.

As it stands, the Titans are set to have a training camp competition between newly-signed Kendall Lamm and Ty Sambrailo for the starting job, two players who have spent the majority of their careers as backups.

Neither player is a long-term solution, so targeting a developmental tackle like Jenkins in this year’s draft certainly makes sense, although it remains to be seen if that’s on the table for the first round.

Offensive tackle is just one position the Titans could target on Day 1. Wide receiver, cornerback, EDGE and defensive line are also possibilities for general manager Jon Robinson.
