Charlie Cox confirms he's returning to the MCU as Daredevil

Charlie Cox has confirmed that he will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Daredevil.

Cox originally starred as the superhero in the Netflix series Daredevil from 2015 to 2018 and returned to the role for a cameo appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Speaking to the Radio Times about the role, he said: "I know something. I don't know much, but I know there will be something else."

Cox also spoke about his well-received appearance in No Way Home which was kept secret until fans saw it in the cinemas: "I got a phone call saying, 'Do you want to come back? Do you want to be in Spider-Man?' and I was like, 'Obviously, yeah! That would be amazing. I'm thrilled. I'd love to do that.'"

"They said 'Great, we'll be in touch.' and then I didn't hear anything for, like, two months! I did get to the point where I was like, 'Did I dream this?' – I definitely got to the point where I was, like, 'I don't know what's gonna happen.' But then I got a follow-up phone call."

Cox appears in the film in a brief scene as Daredevil's alter-ego Matt Murdoch to offer legal advice to Peter Parker after his identity as Spider-Man has been revealed to the world.

Cox, who is also known for his roles in Stardust and Boardwalk Empire, talked about his experience watching the film with an audience for the first time.

He joked that there was no big reaction to his cameo: "I was so disappointed – my wife was with me and she was recording me, because it'd be fun to have that moment of everyone cheering, and then... tumbleweed!"

Daredevil is set to leave Netflix on 1 March with Disney regaining the rights to the series. It will then begin streaming on Disney Plus in certain countries from 16 March.
