May 18—Folk legends Charlie King and Colleen Kattau join forces onstage for a Friday Night Folk concert in New London's All Souls UU Congregation. Individually, each is noted for a compassionate and activist approach to time-honored folk stylings.

King's songs have been covered by Pete Seeger, Holly Near, John McCutcheon, Arlo Guthrie and Chad Mitchell, and he's the 2018 recipient of the Phil Ochs Award. Kattau is known in the folk community as "Our Lady of Peace" because her musical efforts bring together so many diverse groups.

Together, they write politically sharp, witty material — often delivered in back-and-forth a capella fashion — and the joint energy and charisma should hold the usual FNF crowd in thrall. Worth noting: Friday Night Folk is offering a live stream option for those far away. The concert link will appear on the All Souls YouTube channel the afternoon of the concert.
