Charlie Strong returning to Alabama football as analyst for Nick Saban | Report

Charlie Strong is returning to Alabama football to serve as a defensive analyst, according to a report from Sports Illustrated on Wednesday.

Strong served in a similar capacity for the Crimson Tide during the 2020 season. This past year, Strong worked as inside linebackers coach at Miami under new Alabama defensive coordinator Kevin Steele.

Strong is a well-traveled and experienced coach. He was the head coach at Louisville, Texas and South Florida before joining the Crimson Tide staff in 2020. Then he went to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL for the 2021 season to work as inside linebackers coach.

Prior to his time as a head coach, Strong was a defensive coordinator in the SEC for 11 seasons. He won national championships as an assistant at Florida in 2006 and 2008.

Other coaching jobs for Strong include stints at Texas A&M as a graduate assistant, Southern Illinois (wide receivers), Ole Miss (wide receivers), Notre Dame (defensive line) and South Carolina (defensive coordinator). He got his start in coaching as a graduate assistant at Florida in 1983.
