Which Charlotte-area public companies pay median employees $100K or more?

Seven of Charlotte’s largest public companies report that annual pay for their median employee, other than the CEO, is more than $100,000.

The Charlotte Business Journal reviewed proxy filings for the region’s public companies to see which CEO earned the most last year, which company had the highest median employee pay and which saw the greatest disparity between the CEO’s annual compensation and that of the median employee.

When it came to highest median employee pay, Piedmont Lithium led the group with compensation for the median employee pegged at $206,411. Compensation of $3.8 million for CEO Keith Phillips was 18 times the median employee’s compensation. Piedmont Lithium used an employee count of 40 to calculate the comparison. That is the smallest employee count among Charlotte-area-based public companies that calculated the CEO pay ratio.
