Charlotte Christian junior Bryce Young, son of NFL Hall of Famer Bryant Young, committed to Notre Dame on Saturday.

Bryce Young is a 6-foot-6, 230-pound junior. He is ranked No. 13 among N.C. players in the class of 2024 by 247 Sports and No. 40 nationally among all defensive linemen. Now he’ll attend the same college where his father once played and became a consensus All-American.

Bryant Young was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2022. He was the No. 7 overall pick in the 1994 NFL draft after starting for three seasons at Notre Dame.

Bryce Young — who is not related to the Carolina Panthers’ first round draft pick of the same name — had offers from Brigham Young, California, Charlotte, Duke, Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford, Tennessee and Virginia, among others. Notre Dame was his first.

Last season, Bryce Young had 92 tackles, three sacks and six tackles for a loss. He helped lead the Knights to a 10-3 record and a berth in the N.C. Independent Schools’ Division I state championship game.
