Charlotte hosts NC’s largest professional pickleball tournament to date

The largest pickleball tournament to date in North Carolina was held in Charlotte over the weekend.

About a thousand amateur players spent the weekend at Life Time in south Charlotte to take part in the event that is part of the Professional Pickleball Association. The top 300 professionals in the world were also there.

Organizers said the event was all about showcasing the growing sport, noting how easy it is for anyone to pick it up.

“Whether you’ve never picked up a paddle to play before, or whether you’ve done a bunch of athletics in your life, it’s a game that you can play, enjoy, and be good at,” Connor Pardoe of the PPA Tour said.

Professional tennis player and Charlotte resident Jack Sock played in the event, winning mixed doubles with Anna Waters.
