1. Power out with no storm? Charlotte residents lift complaints to NC utility commission

At Jennifer Williams’ home in the Wexford neighborhood of Charlotte, she feels like power goes out with the slightest bit of wind or rain.

She’s one of many residents expressing frustrations to Duke Energy about frequent outages, especially during August.

2. Bryce Young returns to practice for Panthers. Will he start Sunday vs. Vikings?

Great news for Carolina Panthers fans this afternoon.

Quarterback Bryce Young returned to practice today after sitting out all last week due to an ankle injury. So does that mean he’ll start Sunday’s game vs. the Minnesota Vikings?

3. The banh mi is back! When Le’s Sandwiches will reopen at its new Charlotte location

After nearly a year, Le’s Sandwiches is on its way back.

The banh mi shop is planning a reopening for Oct. 14 at a sleek new space developed by Beauxwright across the parking lot from the original location at Asian Corner Mall.

4. Wrongful arrests, court slowdowns: Despite complaints, eCourts expansion moves forward

Outside a Wake County courtroom Aug. 24, Kevin Spruill holds up release paperwork he keeps with him in case he is stopped and detained by authorities on an arrest warrant that should have been recalled. Spruill is one of several plaintiffs who signed onto a potential class action lawsuit filed in federal courts alleging that the rollout of the state’s eCourt system violated their civil rights.

The rollout of a $100-million plus software package meant to drag North Carolina’s archaic court system into the online age is coming under scrutiny.

A potential class action civil rights lawsuit alleges the system designed by Texas-based Tyler Technologies Inc. has wrongfully landed people in jail. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
